Will the 2025 Subaru Outback near Santa Fe, NM be Redesigned?

Within Subaru of America’s adventure-friendly lineup, the Outback is one of the most popular choices, and there are lots of good reasons why. With its no-nonsense attitude and enough room for the whole family (including pets!) combined with the company’s legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a well-composed ride, it’s no wonder people who love the outdoors choose the Outback! But what can you expect from the 2025 Subaru Outback near Santa Fe, NM

What’s New for 2025?

There is plenty of speculation about whether the 2025 Outback will be a carryover model or arrive as an all-new model. The redesigned Outback is highly anticipated, and sources say it will get a revamped cabin, new exterior styling, new infotainment, and upgraded safety. Considering the launch of the current generation Outback was five years ago, it wouldn’t be surprising to discover the latest model debuting in 2025.

Subaru is notorious for being tight-lipped about future products, so there have yet to be any official announcements about the 2025 model. When it does, we expect changes similar to those on the new Forester, with Subaru’s traditional rugged design. Because it has been confirmed that the Subaru Forester will get a hybrid option for the new model year, the question isn’t “Will the Outback get one?" but when.

2025 Subaru Outback near Santa Fe, NM: Appearance

When the new Forester arrives, it should preview a few of the changes expected for the Outback. The wagon’s general style has remained consistent over six generations since 1995, and we presume that it will still look like an Outback. However, the current trend of flatter panels and a light bar extending the width of the car could also find its way to the Outback, too.

Internet rumors have suggested that we could see a subtle shift towards a more modern design with updates to the headlights and grille. It’s also possible that some heavy cladding will be removed from some trim levels, though nothing has been confirmed. And what about the Wilderness trim? The Outback was the first model to receive the Wilderness treatment, and it’s quickly becoming a favorite, so we’re confident it will return as well. The current model offers eight other trim levels, and we see no reason that should change either.

Power and Performance

Continuously variable transmissions (CVTs) and 4-cylinder BOXER engines will likely power all 2025 Outbacks (unless the hybrid arrives!). The 2.5-liter naturally aspirated flat-four producing 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque is expected to remain under the hood of the lower trims. Fuel economy will likely remain the same at 26/32 mpg city/highway, making this powertrain the most efficient in the lineup.

Higher trims get a turbocharged 2.4-liter BOXER flat-four that can deliver up to 260 hp and 270 lb-ft. These models should return the same fuel economy as in the past, 22/29 mpg city/highway, except the Wilderness, which sees about 21/26 mpg.
