What’s New with the 2024 Subaru WRX in Albuquerque, NM

We can’t help but be excited about the new 2024 Subaru WRX in Albuquerque, NM, and its arrival in our showroom here at Fiesta Subaru. If you’re a rally fan, the WRX likely holds a special place in your heart, so you’ll be thrilled to learn there’s a new variant called the TR for the latest model year. Introduced during Subiefest Florida at the Daytona International Speedway this past October, Subaru calls the WRX TR a “new performance-focused” WRX.

Trim Levels for the 2024 Subaru WRX

This model year, the Subaru WRX is offered in five distinct trims, each coming with its own additional packages and tuning options. The starting MSRPs for this compact performance sedan are as follows:

  • Base $32,735
  • Premium $34,635
  • Limited $39,015
  • TR $41,655
  • GT $44,215

Because the TR is the newest addition, we’ll take a look at what goodies it has in store for you, along with what’s new with the model overall.

2024 Subaru WRX in Albuquerque, NM: What’s New

For the first time EVER, Subaru’s innovative EyeSight Driver-Assist Technology comes standard on all versions of the WRX, even the manual transmission-equipped versions, which includes the TR. A multiple award-winning system, EyeSight incorporates Adaptive Cruise Control, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, a backup camera, and a Pre-Collision Braking System.

Speaking of braking, the new TR trim features beefed-up Brembo 6-piston front brakes with red calipers, 2-piston rear calipers, larger rotors, larger brake pads, and a larger brake master cylinder for the ultimate in stopping. Along with the enhanced braking system, the WRX TR was engineered with revised damping rates for peak body control and steering accuracy, stiffer springs, and a re-tuned steering rack for an improved road feel. With unique 19-inch multi-spoke, satin-gray wheels centered in Bridgestone Potenza S007 245/35/R19 tires and a more rigid suspension, drivers will notice more grip, especially when taking those tight corners!

Finally, the WRX TRs’ wide-body design really emphasizes its capabilities, with a broad front hood scoop, aggressive stance, integrated low-profile rear spoiler, compact headlights, and (according to Subaru) rear taillights that are “designed to glow with a look like volcanic magma.”

Inside the WRX

Like other modern Subaru vehicles, the interior features carbon-fiber-like accents and red contrast stitching throughout. The driver-centric cockpit showcases a flat-bottomed steering wheel and analog gauges, creating a performance-oriented cabin. You’ll be perfectly comfortable in the front seats of the WRX, but when you opt for the TR or GT models, you’ll get the heavily bolstered Recaro® performance seats. Upholstered in black and gray Ultrasuede, these seats are engineered to provide more support for the driver and front passenger.

The new 2024 WRX in Albuquerque, NM doesn’t scrimp on convenience features either. All models except the Base come equipped with Subaru’s StarLink Multimedia System and an 11.6-inch touchscreen (7-inch in Base trim) that controls climate, vehicle, and media settings. Also included are Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bluetooth, AM/FM HD radio, and more.

Under the Hood

Power for all WRX trims comes from a 2.4-liter turbocharged BOXER flat-four that churns out 271 hp and 258 lb-ft via the 6-speed manual transmission. The GT is the only model standard equipped with the Subaru Performance Transmission, although it is an option on the Premium and Limited trims. The Base and TR are offered exclusively with the stick shift.

But what about AWD? Yes, Subaru’s legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Active Torque Vectoring comes on every WRX, reducing wheel spin and assisting in sharper handling.
