The new Subaru BRZ carries forward the brisk 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated Subaru BOXER flat-four, which delivers 228 horsepower and184 lb-ft of torque, and is mated with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic. This setup is configured as a rear-wheel drive via a standard Torsen® limited-slip rear differential.
Previously only found on models with the automatic transmission, 2025 brings a “Sport” driving mode for sharper throttle response in models equipped with a stick shift.
