Introducing the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek in ABQ NM
Move over, Outback! That’s right, Subaru’s best-selling SUV wagon took second place to the compact Subaru Crosstrek last year, as the Crosstrek became the brand’s best-seller. The sporty little Crosstrek has been the company’s fastest-selling model since its debut (then called the XV Crosstrek) in 2013. An all-new Crosstrek was introduced for the 2018 model year, and now it’s time for the third generation, the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek in ABQ NM.
Feel the Love
In the Crosstrek’s nearly 12-year history, the company sold more last year than any previous year, even with the redesign looming ahead for this year. Even with minimal incentives (surprisingly so compared to its rivals), customers still grabbed the mini SUV in increasing numbers. Since the redesign was upcoming, Subaru needed to be sure the Crosstrek didn’t get redone to the point of customer dissatisfaction.
Changes for the All-New 2024 Subaru Crosstrek in ABQ NM
There was quite a list of revisions set for the new 2024 Crosstrek, which did occur. The new model boasts a significantly revamped and reinforced chassis, which makes it stiffer yet lighter. It has a retuned suspension, aerodynamic changes, and improvements to the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. It also got a substantially revised powertrain, an improved interior, and refinements to its EyeSight advanced driver-assist suite of features.
As you can see, that’s quite a bit to change, with plenty of opportunity to change for the sake of a new generation of vehicles. But with record sales of the Crosstrek, it would appear that current buyers don’t want things to change. However, according to several reviewers’ first-drive testing, all the good stuff from the prior model remains.
On the Outside
The overall shape of the familiar Crosstrek is still there, although the wheelbase is a bit longer than before, and the departure angle has been increased to 30.1 degrees (approach and break-over angles are the same as the old model). New LED headlights for all four trims, new taillights, and a new grille adorn the 2024 model. There are redesigned wheel openings with louvered outlets on the front wheel arches that direct air from the wheel well for better handling stability and other cool styling touches that are also functional. The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek in ABQ NM still features a standard-equipped, sturdy roof rack that will support 700 static pounds (for example, a large tent and two people when the car is parked) or 175 dynamic pounds (the same tent, but folded and stored atop the Crosstrek while it’s moving). It also still has a tall ride height for good ground clearance and now comes with more underbody coverings.
Interior Changes
You’ll love the comfort inside the cabin of the new Crosstrek. The Premium trim (the most popular) has exceptionally comfortable seating covered in high-quality cloth upholstery. Both front and backseat have more head and legroom than before, much more than many rivals in the compact crossover segment, even when you opt for the available power moonroof. The build quality, materials, and workmanship are excellent in all models, even the base trim. If you enjoy more visual appeal, the higher Sport and Limited trims come with more interior color choices and different upholstery. The mid-range Premium focuses on a balance between cost and features, and it works (as noted, it’s the most popular trim). One of the most noticeable changes inside is the optional 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen. A big advantage, however, is still having temperature-adjustment buttons, a volume knob, and seat-heater switches that are still physically controlled and not part of the touchscreen. Everything else is, but it’s user-friendly and straightforward. For a subcompact, the 2024 Crosstrek has loads of room for your stuff. The cargo area can expand quickly, with seat backs that fold completely flat, making it simple to stow bulkier objects you don’t want on the roof. Optional rubber mats for the cargo area and rear seatbacks will give you peace of mind when you need to load dirty or wet gear.
