Get to Know the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek near Rio Rancho, NM

The spunky Subaru Crosstrek arrived on the scene 12 years ago and has gained so much in popularity that it was the company’s top seller for 2022. Now starting its third generation, the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek near Rio Rancho, NM is back and better than ever. Along with the famous 8.7 inches of ground clearance and extra off-the-pavement features, the Crosstrek boasts ample passenger and cargo space, a long list of standard and available features, and more capability than your average crossover SUV.

Updated but Familiar Exterior

Representing the latest Subaru design, the new Crosstrek has a larger hexagon-shaped grille flanked by LED headlights and round fog lights in the front. This refreshed look is complemented by a more sculptured body and a broader stance. Black cladding over the wheel arches and rocker panels offers a bold contrast to the body color.

Several functional and aerodynamic enhancements have been added, which improve the model’s performance and stability. At the edge of the front wheel opening, a new vent allows air to leave the wheel well, helping to reduce lift on the front tires, which improves driving steadiness. At the back, additional outlets on either side of the bumper release trapped air, reducing body sway.

And not visible at all is the improved body structure, which is 10% sturdier for an improved ride and better handling.

Built in the U.S.

The 2024 Crosstrek comes in four trims: Base, Premium, Sport, and Limited. The two lower trims are powered by the existing 2.0-liter flat-four BOXER engine under the hood, producing 182 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. Sport and Limited trims have the 2.5-liter BOXER engine that delivers 182 hp and 178lb-ft. These powertrains are mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission and return nearly the same fuel economy (34/27 mpg city/highway for the lower, 33/26 for the higher trims).

With the upgrade to the bigger engine, wheel size increases from 17 to 18 inches. It’s also notable that Sport and Limited models will now be built at the Subaru plant in Lafayette, Indiana, making them the first Crosstrek models built in the United States.

Another new feature for the two higher trims is the enhanced dual-function X-MODE with an added mud and deep snow function, perfect for winter driving in the mountains. The Wilderness Edition of the Crosstrek will soon go on sale, and with it comes additional ground clearance and even more off-road-focused features.

All models now have a redesigned dashboard, including an 11.6-inch tablet-style touchscreen integrated with Subaru’s StarLink multimedia for the Premium, Sport, and Limited trims. You’ll also get Apple CarPlay/Android Auto standard in all models.

The front seats were redesigned for better support, overall comfort, and reduced driver fatigue. An array of additions and changes throughout the Crosstrek are aimed at providing a smoother ride and quieter cabin.

Enhanced EyeSight®

Subaru’s award-winning suite of driver-assist technology, EyeSight, comes standard in every trim, operating faster and more efficiently than before. Cameras provide a more expansive view, updated control software, and an electronic brake booster is now integrated into the system. You’ll get a quicker response to the identification of bicycles and pedestrians at intersections. At that point it warns the driver and uses the brakes if necessary to help avoid a collision.

Also now available is Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist, Reverse Automatic Braking, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, all designed to keep the driver aware of what’s behind the vehicle. Auto Emergency Steering combines with Blind-Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and EyeSight to enable steering control to avoid collisions within a lane at speeds less than 50 mph.
