Subaru has always had a loyal following. In the past few years, Subaru vehicles have gained even more popularity, with customers wanting to get off the pavement and into the wild. Models such as the Outback, Forester, and Crosstrek come to mind when you think of crossover SUVs that can take you trailblazing as well as to the grocery store. And for driving enthusiasts, the Subaru WRX and BRZ are the two Subarus that deliver plenty of thrills. But there’s an excellent midsize sedan offered by the company that’s often overlooked: the 2024 Subaru Legacy near Santa Fe, NM.
If you’re searching for an affordable family car that’s well-equipped, roomy, and delivers a comfortable ride- along with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive- you owe it to yourself to check out the Legacy.
The Subaru Legacy has been named a Top Safety Pick for 18 years by the IIHS and is the company’s longest-selling model in the United States. It’s also one of the longest-lasting midsize sedans out there, with 95% of all Legacy models sold in the past ten years still on the roads today. Arriving sometime in the fall of this year, the 2024 Legacy will be available in five trims: Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Touring XT.
This generation of the Subaru Legacy was introduced in 2020 and was thoroughly updated for the 2023 model year. Therefore, no significant changes are expected for the 2024 model. Changes for 2023 included revised front and rear bumpers, a larger grille, new fog lights, and a new headlight design, all bringing a sportier, more aggressive look to the sedan.
On the Legacy Sport models, additional exterior accents like a red stripe in the grille and gray mirror caps were added, along with a cool lip spoiler on the trunk lid and different air intake designs beneath the headlights.
Previously, the Legacy came with the company’s tried-and-true 2.5-liter 4-cylinder BOXER engine, with a turbocharged BOXER available only in the highest trims. For 2023 the Sport trim received the beefier engine, a sport-tuned suspension and 18-inch wheels. It also got a heated steering wheel, LED fog lights, a power sunroof, navigation, and exclusive two-tone cloth upholstery with red accent stitching.
With the base engine, you’ll get 182 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque, and it takes about 8 seconds to go from 0-60 mph. Models with this engine have a fuel economy rating of 27/35 mpg city/highway.
The 2.4-liter turbocharged version produces an excellent 260 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, cutting your 0-60 mph acceleration to 6.1 seconds. This powertrain should get about 24/32 mpg city/highway.
No matter which Legacy you choose, all models come with all-wheel drive and a Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with 8-speed manual shift mode and steering wheel paddle shifters.
You’ll enjoy the spaciousness and functionality of the 2024 Subaru Legacy near Santa Fe, NM, with its roomy cabin and thoughtfully designed layout. Cloth upholstery is standard, but the two highest trims boast leather seating. The front seats are ergonomically sculpted and snug, and the upper trims feature a thigh extension for the driver’s seat, helping log-legged drivers stay comfortable on long drives. There will be no problem storing luggage in the generously sized trunk.
The Legacy comes with a long list of standard features, including the award-winning EyeSight suite of advanced driver-assist technology, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a backup camera, LED steering responsive headlights with high-beam assist, and more. The base trim gets Subaru’s STARLINK infotainment system with dual 7-inch displays, but all other trims include an 11.6-inch tablet-style display to keep you connected while on the go.
